aua'i didn't get its nickname as the Garden Isle for being an irrigated desert transformed into a tropical refuge. Rain does happen on Kaua'i, and it happens frequently enough to support the lushness of the island. In fact, the wettest spot on earth is none other than on Kaua'i - Mount Wai'ale'ale to be exact. However, odds are overwhelmingly in your favor that rain will not affect your beautiful Kauaiian vacation for one simple fact: most of the rain occurs in the interior of the island and not along the coast. And when it does rain on the North Shore, showers are typically early in the morning and short-lived. And worst-case scenario? You hop in your car and explore Kaua'i's South Shore. Typically, the entire island is not socked in with rain at the same time (unless, of course, we're talking about a hurricane).
