ince you're going to be on vacation, chances are you're not going to want to be (and we hope you don't want to be!) cooped up in the kitchen cooking meals everyday. The dining scene on Kaua'i is much like that of any small metropolitan area; the diversity of Kaua'i's ethic breakdown trickles right down to the island cuisine. From burger joints to restaurants serving authentic Hawaiian fare to small cafés and sushi bars, Kaua'i offers a dining selection for anyone.

For those picnic lunches on the beach or snacks while you're hiking, we recommend that you stop at the shopping center in Kapa'a on your way to the North Shore. While there are grocery stores on the North Shore, the supermarket in Kapa'a is much cheaper and has a greater selection.

We are most familiar with North Shore dining, so most of our recommendations focus on North Shore dining hotspots. Keep in mind that these are only recommendations, so if you try out an establishment and wonder what we were thinking, blame it on the chef!
