The famed Hawaiian monk seal often comes ashore on Po'ipu Beach, but in no way is this guaranteed; according to the Kaua'i Monk Seal Watch Program, there are an estimated fewer than 20 Hawaiian monk seals in existence, making them among the most endangered animals. But if you're unlucky in spotting one of these creatures, Po'ipu Beach is still an excellent location for almost any beach activity.

Located on the South Shore, crescent-shaped Po'ipu Beach has usually calm, shallow waters, good snorkeling and soft, golden sand.
