here are over 40 sandy beaches on Kaua'i, spanning 143 miles of coastline. The island of Kaua'i - just like all the other Hawaiian islands with the exception of Ni'ihau - has no private beaches. However, access to a particular beach may be restricted through private land, so just use your best judgement when hiking to that secluded sandy beach!

Here are our ideas for some of the best beaches to visit during your stay:

Take note: The unique arrangement of reefs and ledges off Kaua'i's beaches can cause heavy surf and strong rip currents at times. Unfortunately, several people drown each year in Hawai'i by taking chances in rough seas. In general, the North Shore "acts up" during the winter months, sometimes making swimming unsafe. As with any ocean beach, use your best judgement when entering the water. If seas aren't calm but you're in the mood for a dip, search for a waterfall!
